Remove EXIF data in 3 steps

  1. Choose your JPG, PNG or WebP photos.
  2. Press "Remove Data".
  3. Download the clean copies and share those instead. Several photos come together in one ZIP.

What gets removed, what stays

  • The location goes, the picture stays

Only the hidden data is removed. The image itself is copied as it is, so it doesn’t lose quality.

  • Upright, with the same colours

Photos that depend on a rotation tag are saved upright, and the colour profile is kept so colours don’t shift.

  • No upload needed to clean a photo

Sending a photo to a server just to remove its location wouldn’t make much sense. Here your browser does the work.

  • One photo or a whole album

Clean one photo or a whole album at once, as often as you like. It’s free, there’s no account, and nothing is added to the image.

Frequently asked questions

What is EXIF data?

It’s hidden information your phone or camera saves inside the photo. That includes the camera model, the date and time, the editing software and often the GPS coordinates of where you were standing. You can’t see it in the picture, but anyone who downloads the file can read it.

Can a photo really reveal where I live?

Yes. If location was turned on when you took it, the photo can hold coordinates precise enough to point to your house. Many big social networks remove this on upload, but forums, marketplaces, email attachments and file-sharing links often keep it. If you’re posting a listing with photos taken at home, it’s worth cleaning them first.

Will the image quality change?

For almost every photo, no. The image data is copied as it is and only the metadata is dropped. There’s one exception. If a photo only looks upright because of a rotation tag, removing the tag would turn it sideways, so it’s saved upright instead, at very high quality.

What is kept?

The picture itself, its format and its colour profile (ICC), so the colours look the same as before. Location, camera details, dates, software and similar hidden fields are removed.

Can I do this on my phone?

Yes. Open this page in your phone’s browser, tap "Choose files" and pick your photos. JPG, PNG and WebP are supported. iPhone’s HEIC format isn’t supported yet.

Are my photos uploaded?

No. The data is removed in your browser on your own device, so the photos don’t reach our servers. Once you close the page, no copy is kept.
