Crop an image in 3 steps

  1. Choose a JPG, PNG or WebP image.
  2. Drag the box with your mouse or finger, or pick a ratio like 1:1 or 16:9.
  3. Press "Crop" and download the cropped image.

What you get

  • Common ratios built in

Choose Free, 1:1 for profile photos, 4:3, 16:9 or 3:4. The box keeps the shape you picked.

  • The size shows as you drag

You see the width and height in pixels while you move the box, so you know the result before you crop.

  • Same format, good quality

A JPG is saved as a high-quality JPG. PNG and WebP stay PNG and WebP, transparency included.

  • Your photo isn’t sent anywhere

The crop happens in your browser, so the picture doesn’t leave your phone or computer. You can crop as many photos as you like for free, without an account.

Frequently asked questions

How do I crop a photo to a square for a profile picture?

Choose your photo, pick the 1:1 ratio and drag the box over the part you want to keep. It stays square while you move or resize it. Press "Crop" and you have a square image for WhatsApp, Instagram or any other profile.

Can I crop several images at once?

No, this tool crops one image at a time, since every photo needs its own frame. When you’re done, press "Start over" and pick the next one. Each image only takes a few seconds.

Does cropping reduce the quality?

The pixels you keep aren’t stretched or blurred. PNG and WebP are saved with no visible change. A JPG is saved again at high quality, so the difference is very hard to spot. The file usually gets smaller because there are fewer pixels left.

What do the numbers next to the box mean?

They’re the width and height of the cropped area in pixels, and they update as you drag. They help when a form or platform asks for a certain size. If you need an exact size like 600 × 600, crop to the right shape here and then use Resize Image.

Can I crop on my phone?

Yes. Open this page in your phone’s browser, tap "Choose files" and pick a photo. Drag the box and its corners with your finger. JPG, PNG and WebP are supported. iPhone’s HEIC format isn’t supported yet.

Is my image uploaded?

No. The image is cropped in your browser on your own device and doesn’t reach our servers. When you close the page, nothing stays behind.
