DownloadReduce an image in 3 steps
- Drop your JPG, PNG or WebP image. You’ll see its file size (KB) and its dimensions (pixels).
- Choose "Shrink the file size (KB)" or "Shrink the dimensions (pixels)".
- Set your target, press "Reduce" and download the result.
Why there are two options
-
"Smaller" means two things
It can mean fewer KB or fewer pixels. Seeing both numbers first tells you what you’re about to change.
-
Processed on your device
Your browser does the work, so personal photos you reduce here aren’t uploaded anywhere.
-
Free to use
Reduce as many images as you like. You don’t need an account, and the result has no watermark.
-
Fine on a phone
Any up-to-date browser on iPhone, Android or a computer works, with nothing to install.
Frequently asked questions
Should I shrink the file size or the dimensions?
If a website or form says something like "max 100 KB" or "under 2 MB", shrink the file size. If it asks for a width and height in pixels, or the picture just looks too big on screen, shrink the dimensions.
What is the difference between KB and pixels?
KB (or MB) is how much storage the file takes. Pixels are the width and height of the picture. A 4000 × 3000 photo might be 3 MB. You can bring the file down to 100 KB and keep it at 4000 × 3000, or resize it to 800 × 600 pixels instead.
Will reducing the image lower the quality?
Usually a little. A smaller file size means less fine detail, and fewer pixels means less detail on a big screen. The tool aims for the best result that meets your target, so at sensible sizes the change is hard to notice.
Which formats are supported?
JPG, PNG and WebP. If you shrink the file size, the result is saved as a JPG. If you shrink the dimensions, the original format stays the same. iPhone’s HEIC format isn’t supported yet.
Can I do this on my phone?
Yes. Open this page in your phone’s browser, tap "Choose files" and pick a photo. You get the same two numbers and two options as on a computer, and the result is saved to your phone.
Is my image uploaded?
No. The image is reduced in your browser, on your own device. It doesn’t reach our servers, and nothing is kept once you close the page.
