View a PDF in 3 steps

  1. Choose your PDF or drop it onto the box above.
  2. Move between pages, zoom or fit to width, and search the text.
  3. Print or download it when you’re done.

What the viewer does

  • No reader to install

Open a PDF on a shared, work or borrowed computer without adding any software to it.

  • Opened, not uploaded

Your browser reads the file where it already is, on your device. No copy is sent to us or to anyone else.

  • Find what you need

Search the text, copy a paragraph, zoom into small print or fit the page to your screen.

  • Locked files open too

A password-protected PDF opens once you type the password, and the password stays on your device as well.

Questions about opening PDFs

My PDF won’t open. Can I view it here?

Often, yes. If your phone or computer has no PDF app, or the one it has fails, open the file here and let your browser read it. A damaged or half-downloaded file may not open anywhere, though. In that case, ask the sender for a fresh copy.

Can I open a password-protected PDF?

Yes. Type the password when you’re asked and the document opens. The password is checked inside your browser and isn’t sent to us.

How do I search inside the PDF?

Press Ctrl+F (Cmd+F on Mac) and type a word. Matches are highlighted page by page. Scanned PDFs are pictures of pages, so there’s no text in them to search or copy.

Can I edit or sign the PDF here?

No, this page is for reading, printing and downloading. To change the file, try one of our other PDF tools, for example to rotate pages, delete pages or add page numbers.

Does it work on my phone?

Yes. It runs in Safari, Chrome and other up-to-date browsers on iPhone and Android. The zoom and page controls make it comfortable to read on a small screen.

Is my PDF uploaded to a server?

No. Your browser opens the PDF from your device, and it doesn’t reach our servers. Nothing is kept after you close the page.
