JPG to SVG in 3 steps

  1. Choose the JPG, for example a scanned signature, a sketch or a photo of a logo.
  2. Pick "Logo / drawing" for line art and flat colours, or "Photo" for a colourful poster look.
  3. Press "Convert to SVG" and download the vector file.

What people use it for

  • Logos you only have as JPG

If the original design file is gone, trace the JPG from your website or an invoice into a vector you can print at any size.

  • Signatures and sketches

Scan or photograph ink on paper and get clean lines that scale, for documents, stamps or cutting machines.

  • Photos become poster-style art

Photo mode turns a picture into flat patches of colour. It won’t look like the original photo, and the FAQ below explains why.

  • Your signature isn’t uploaded

A scanned signature is personal. It’s traced inside your browser and never sent to a server or stored.

JPG to SVG questions

What does converting JPG to SVG actually do?

It traces the picture. Areas of similar colour are grouped together, and their outlines are saved as vector paths. The SVG holds shapes instead of pixels, so you can enlarge it as much as you like without blur.

Why are the edges a little rough?

JPG compression leaves faint blocks and halos around sharp edges, and the tracing follows them. Larger, higher-quality JPGs give smoother outlines. If you have the same image as a PNG, PNG to SVG usually gives a cleaner result.

How do I vectorize a signature or a drawing?

Sign with a dark pen on plain white paper, then scan or photograph it in even light and crop out everything else. Use "Logo / drawing" mode. Shadows and grey paper texture are what usually make tracing messy.

Can I turn a photo into an SVG?

Yes, with "Photo" mode, but you’ll get poster-style art made of flat colour patches rather than a photo. That works for posters and stylised effects. For an ordinary photo, it’s better to keep the JPG.

Will the white background be traced too?

Yes. A JPG has no transparency, so the paper or white background becomes its own shape. If you need the design by itself, delete that shape in Inkscape, Illustrator or Figma.

Can I use the SVG for a cutting machine or laser?

Usually yes. Cricut, Silhouette and most laser software can import SVG. Use "Logo / drawing" mode to get fewer, cleaner shapes, and check the paths in the machine’s software before you cut.
