Convert an image in 3 steps

- Pick the format you want back: JPG, PNG or WebP.
- Press "Convert" and save the result. If you added several files, they come as one ZIP.
What this converter handles
-
Seven formats in, three out
It reads JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, GIF, BMP and JFIF, so one page covers most of the odd files you come across.
-
Mixed folders are fine
Say you have a PNG, two WebPs and an old BMP. Add them together and they all come out in the one format you chose.
-
Your pictures stay with you
The image is opened and saved again inside your browser tab. No copy of it is sent to a server.
-
Free to use
You don’t need an account, and nothing is stamped on your images. You can add up to 50 files at a time.
Common questions
Which output format should I choose?
JPG for photos you want to share, email or print. It opens everywhere and stays small. PNG for screenshots, logos, graphics with sharp text, or anything that needs a transparent background. WebP for images that go on a website, where smaller files help pages load faster.
What happens to an animated GIF?
Only the first frame is converted, so you end up with a still picture. The JPG, PNG and WebP files this tool makes are never animated.
Is transparency kept?
Yes, if you pick PNG or WebP. JPG can’t store transparency, so any see-through areas are filled with white.
Does converting reduce quality?
PNG output is lossless and keeps exactly what was decoded. JPG and WebP are saved at about 92% quality. That’s hard to tell apart from the original, but a little detail is thrown away. Also, turning a JPG into a PNG won’t bring back detail the JPG had already lost.
Can I convert iPhone HEIC photos here?
HEIC needs a special decoder, so it has its own page: HEIC to JPG. The other formats on this page are opened by your browser itself.
Why did my WebP come out as a PNG?
Safari on iPhone, iPad and Mac can open WebP but can’t create it. When WebP saving isn’t available, the tool saves a PNG instead of stopping with an error. Chrome, Edge and Firefox make real WebP files.
